Whether you're looking for a yummy green bean casserole for Thanksgiving or simply want to make a vegetable side dish for a casual dinner at home, you can't go wrong with a jar of Alfredo sauce! This simple swap will take just about any casserole from boring to totally addicting.
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 2 (12oz) bags frozen green beans (thawed)
- 1 (15oz) jar Alfredo sauce
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 (6oz) container crispy fried onions
- seasoning to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F and grease the sides of a 1½ quart dish (9x9 or 7x11).
- Place the thawed green beans into a large bowl ensuring that any excess liquid is drained. Toss them with the Alfred sauce and seasoning of choice. I use black pepper and garlic powder. No salt needed!
- Place the green bean mixture into your prepared dish and evenly sprinkle the parmesan cheese over top.
- Bake in the center rack of your oven for 25 minutes. Place the French fried onions on top and continue baking for another 5 minutes or until crispy.
Notes
- Are you feeding a large family for Thanksgiving? Double the recipe and use a 9x13 baking dish. Toss in about a quarter of the crispy onions to the green bean mixture before baking. I would also add about 5 minutes to the baking time BEFORE the remaining crispy onions are added to the top.
- You can also try this vegetable side dish with thawed broccoli or anything else that pairs well with Alfredo sauce.
- If you want to make this simple casserole into more of a meal, try tossing in some pulled rotisserie chicken or cooked sausage.
