Dump everything into a large baking dish and dinner is done! That’s my favorite kind of meal, especially on busy school nights when dinner time is when I feel done for the day.

This easy pizza casserole is a life saver for busy moms and dads on a budget with hangry kids to feed. You can customize it to your liking with a variety of pizza toppings; sometimes we do half pepperoni and peppers for the adults and half cheese and olives for the kids. Either way, it’s super fast to make with hardly any preparation or clean up required.

This pepperoni pizza casserole is made with just four ingredients: Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits, pizza sauce, cheese, and the toppings of your choice, making for a quick and easy dinner for a family with kids.

Your picky eaters are going to love this fun and easy way to make pizza!

This Biscuit Pepperoni Pizza Casserole is cheap and easy to make for dinner on busy weeknights, especially if you have picky kids at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 (15oz) jar pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • pepperoni (or pizza toppings of choice)

Ingredients needed to make an easy pizza casserole including refrigerated buttermilk biscuits, pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni.

Step 1 Open up both cans of biscuits and use a pizza cutter or knife to cut them into quarters like shown below.

Refrigerated biscuit dough cut into quarters to make an easy pepperoni pizza casserole.

Step 2 Grease a 9×13 baking dish and evenly place the dough into the dish. Try to assemble them in a single layer, placing any that need to be slightly stacked near the edges of the pan where they bake the quickest.

Step 3 Use a spoon or small spatula to evenly spread the pizza sauce over top and then sprinkle on the shredded mozzarella cheese. You could also include some parmesan if you have it on hand!

Step 4 Top with your favorite pizza toppings which could include pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, onions, fresh herbs, etc.

A yummy pizza casserole ready for the oven! This easy meal is topped with lots of pepperoni and cheese, making for a delicious family meal on busy school nights.

Step 5 Bake uncovered  in a 350° F oven for 25-30 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and the cheese starts to brown. The center takes the longest to cook so check there first for doneness.

Eat this yummy pizza with your hands or eat it with a fork. It doesn’t matter. We are talking about fluffy biscuits smothered in pizza sauce and cheese! This dinner casserole is delicious, fun to make, and definitely a hit with picky eaters of all ages.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits *See Notes
  • 1 (15oz) jar pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pizza toppings of choice (We love pepperoni & Italian sausage)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Open up both cans of biscuits and use a pizza cutter or knife to cut them into quarters or small bite size pieces.
  • Evenly place the dough onto the bottom of your prepared dish. Try to assemble them in a single layer, placing any that need to be slightly stacked near the edges of the pan where they bake the quickest.
  • Use a spoon or small spatula to evenly spread the pizza sauce over top and then sprinkle on the shredded mozzarella cheese along with the pizza toppings of your choice.
  • Bake uncovered 25-30 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and the cheese starts to brown. The center takes the longest to cook so check there first for doneness.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for at least 5 minutes and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you have a small family to feed or just like your pizza really saucy, you can use a single can of biscuits for this recipe.
  • I've had a few reviewers that couldn't get the biscuits in the center to fully cook. I believe that has a lot to do with the type of dish used (glass or ceramic vs. metal). If you're worried about it, the smaller you cut the dough, the quicker it will cook, so you could cut the dough in the center of the pan into smaller pieces. You could also precook the dough for 5-10 minutes before placing the sauce and toppings on.
  • Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in your air fryer.
  • Feel free to add extra flavor with Italian seasoning, parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, herbs or anything else you'd like.
  • Yummy toppings for this recipe include pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, onions, basil, spinach, etc. For small leafy greens like spinach, I'd place them under the cheese or mix them into the sauce to prevent them from burning.
